INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS

Aims

 

The aim of this module is to understand the basic principles of intercultural business communication, and see the effect of “cultural differences” on how people communicate in an international business environment. A particular emphasis will be made on presentation skills and communication in the following regions: North America, Western Europe, and Asia.

The module will use a combination of analysis of international research on intercultural communication, case studies, an individual project, active classroom discussions and presentations to provide both formative feedback and summative assessment.

The aim is to give students a significant advantage from an intercultural perspective to interact successfully with, and present to, people from other regions.

Students will be expected to complete the readings and assignments, attend class regularly and participate in class discussions. Assignments are to provide students with an opportunity to learn essential aspects of intercultural awareness and communication in a business environment.
